The question
How much fun is each team to watch?
Ph³ measures entertainment, not winning. Wins are left out on purpose. A team can finish last in the standings and still be the most fun team in the league.
The recipe
| Ingredient | What it counts | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| FAN | A fan in the stands catches a foul ball for an out | 16.8 |
| WO | Walk-off innings, plus credit for showdown wins | 15.6 |
| WHS | Singles, doubles, triples, home runs and runs, weighted by size | 15.4 |
| TPO | Trick play outs | 15.1 |
| SB1B | Steals of first base | 12.7 |
| GBAT | Golden Batter appearances | 9.5 |
| SB | Stolen bases | 8.0 |
| B4S | Ball-four sprints | 6.9 |
| Total | 100.0 | |
Weighted hits: singles count 1, doubles 2, triples 4, runs 5 and home runs 6, per game. Showdown wins add to walk-offs: 8 for a win sealed with a strikeout or a walk-off home run, and 4 for any other showdown win.
How a score is figured
Each ingredient is counted per game. The league leader in that ingredient gets its full weight, and every other team gets a share in proportion. Example: the Firefighters had 0.279 fan catch outs per game; the Savannah Bananas led the league with 0.721.
0.279 ÷ 0.721 × 16.8 = 6.49 points
Where the weights came from
The weights were set by public vote. From July 17 to 21, 2026, a round-robin poll on Instagram put seven Banana Ball plays head to head, 21 matchups in all, and asked which was more fun. 901 votes were cast. Each play's weight comes from its average share of the vote across its six matchups. Fan catch outs went 6-0 and carry the most weight; ball-four sprints went 0-6. Weighted Hit Score was not on the ballot because it combines several kinds of hits, so it was placed between walk-offs and trick play outs. The weights stay locked until the next poll, between seasons.
